YOUR NEW PUPPY

Awesome! You’ve just got a new puppy for your birthday!

Lucky you! But what now?

Geeze, you don’t know the first thing about looking after a puppy.

Well, I guess it’s lucky you turned to this page.

   FIRST THINGS FIRST:

You want your dog to stay around for as long as possible.
For this to happen it is essential that you take the following
 into consideration:

Vaccinations: Puppies must have a series of injections,
followed by an annual booster.

Desexing: This is very important. Not only does it stop you
from having to look after any more puppies it can also stop
the urge for a dog to wander away from home and also
decrease his aggression levels. It also prevents nasty
diseases which your puppy could catch later on in life.

Microchipping: This is a legal requirement, as is registering
your puppy with your local council. Both of these could
become invaluable if your poor puppy ever gets lost.

Heartworm Prevention: This is really important, as
heartworm  can kill your puppy. Tablets or injections are
 available for this.

Intestinal Worming Prevention: This is also important as
intestinal  worms can transmit nasty diseases from your
puppy  to other  humans.

Flea Control: Fleas can be very annoying for your
puppy - and for you. The RSPCA recommends a spot-on
product, as they have found it to be far more effective.

NEXT:

1)   Make your puppy feel as comfortable as you can.

2)   Pat your puppy for at least 10 minutes every day  so he feels
 safe with you.

3)   Let your puppy sleep in your room for a little bit  so he feels
 he is safe -
and make sure its bed is nice and cosy.

4)  Don’t over feed it and don’t under feed it. Give it a  variety of
different foods and make sure it has plenty of fresh water.
